Sydney University Kendo Club members Kim Avina and Daichi Fujisawa won gold at the Korean Kumdo Championship held by the Macquarie University/Hanrimwon Club.

80 participants from NSW and Canberra competed at the event on Saturday May 11, but it was Sydney Uni’s Avina (women’s kyu individual – non-blackbelt) and Fujisawa (men’s dan individuals – black-belt) who came away with major achievements.  

In other news, the Sydney University Kendo Club will be hosting their annual charity competition on July 6 at the Sydney University Sports Centre (Cumberland Campus) from 8am-6pm. Club’s from NSW, Canberra and Melbourne will be invited to compete, and donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Genome Initiative (an Australian Institution based in Sydney) on the day. If you would like to place a donation, but can’t make it to the event on the day, please send the club an email to arrange a donation.
