The Sydney Uni Handball Club has continued their domination of the handball scene in Australia and the broader Oceania region, adding the 4th consecutive title of Oceania Club Champions. This victory, achieved with wins over AS Dumbea, JS Mont Dore (New Caledonia) and St Kilda Melbourne at the finals event over the last weekend, results in the qualification for the IHF Super Globe, the official club world cup, in Qatar in September.

Sydney Uni’s handballers will be the only amateur team competing in the event, and they will meet the continental champions of Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. This high profile event on the international handball calendar, with a prize money of US$ 750,000, will see the Sydney Uni games broadcast worldwide via beIN Sport – and make the gold and blue lion known across the world.

Sydney Uni HC also received an invitation for Christmas to compete in the the well known ‘Limburgse Handball Dagen’ in Holland. The team aims to combine participation with a Europe tour to play exhibition games against professional clubs in Germany – who typically attract crowds of up to 15,000 per game.

2015 shapes up to be another step in making handball a mainstream sport in Australia, and carrying the proud Sydney Uni name out into the world through its handball team!
