It was another exciting and successful competition for Sydney University Judo Club at the Illawarra Kyu grades on Sunday 1st March. Each of our seven representatives fought hard and well, bringing home an impressive total of eight medals between them.

Winning gold in their various divisions were William Lum, George Hohlov, and Kuba Marosz. Gary Fong and Dave Gordon each took silver medals, and Kwoktung Yiu won bronze. In the hotly contested open weight division, George Hohlov and Kuba Marosz won silver and bronze respectively.

Hidayat Imran won his first match by ippon with a spectacular hip throw, before badly injuring his shoulder in his second. He continued fighting to win his second match, but ultimately the injury resulted in him having to pull out of the competition. We wish him all the very best for a fast recovery.

A big thank you to Randall Jones, Andrew Roberts and Monica Nguyen for providing support and encouragement on the day. Many congratulations to everyone who competed for putting forward such an amazing effort, and as always, representing SUJC with spirit and pride!
