Sydney University Swim Club member Andrew Abood has been chosen to represent Australia at the 2011 World University Games which will be held in Shenzen, China from August 13-23.

Abood earned hi selection after reaching the semi-finals in the 50m and 100m freestyle events at the recent Australian Swimming Championships.

Abood’s brother, Sydney University swimmer and Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder, Matthew, has been awarded a New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Gold Scholarship for being an Australian Swim team member. Matthew will compete for Australia at the FINA World Championships in July.

Sydney University’s first disability swimmer, Sarah Hilt, who is also an EAP scholarship holder, has been selected to represent Australia at the Para Championships to be held in August in Canada.

Stephen Parkes (EAP) and Andrew Abood have been selected in the NSWIS Emerging Talent squad for their strong performances at the recent Australian swimming titles.
