Sydney University retained fourth place on the NEAFL ladder despite an 11-point loss to Brisbane Lions on Saturday.
The Lions prevailed 86-75 in a tight Round 14 tussle at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday.
The hosts will be ruing their marksmanship. They landed just nine goals from 30 scoring shots, while the visitors kicked 12 majors from 26 scoring shots.
In a congested ladder with six competition rounds to be played, Sydney Swans head the league on 36 points on percentages from Southport (36) and Canberra (36), with Sydney University (32), Aspley (28) and Brisbane Lions (24) making up the top six.
Sydney University will meet Southport on a Round 16 clash at Fanhauser Reserve on Saturday.
Sydney University also lie fourth on the Sydney Premier competition ladder after a 43-point win over Western Suburbs magpies in a Round 14 clash at Picken Oval on Saturday.
Tristan Davis and Will Stratford each landed trebles for the winners, while Cameron Gordon led the way for the hosts with five goals.
North Shore Bombers head the Premier Division ladder on 48 points, with East Coast Eagles (36), UNSW Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs (36), Sydney University (32), Manly Warringah Wolves (32) and Pennant Hills Dragons (32) making up a tight top six.
The Students will host North Shore Bombers in a Round 15 clash at Sydney University Oval on Saturday.
