Sydney University Athletic Club’s men’s short-course cross country team dominated the NSW Championships held at Rydalmere on Saturday.

The team consisting of Russell Dessaix-Chin, Bradley Croker, Hugh Williams and Lachlan Chisholm defeated Randwick Botany Harriers by 46 points in the team’s event after all four Sydney University runners finished in the top 10 of the event.

The SUAC men’s B team finished 5th in the event highlighting the depth of the club in this year’s winter competition.

The Men’s A team now hold a seven-point lead over Randwick Botany Harriers in the Winter Premiership with two events remaining.

Standout in the women’s competition at the weekend was Freya Wilson, who recorded a personal best and a top 15 finish in her first open NSW Championship event.

In competition overseas, Anneliese Rubie continued her excellent run of form posting a win over 400m in the Flanders Cup athletics meeting held in Ghent in Belgium.

Rubie will either contest the World Championships or the World University Games later this month, depending on the discretion of selectors. A decision will be made this week.

Meanwhile, Lachlan Renshaw ran second in the 800m event at the Diamond League in Stockholm in a tactical affair.
