Sydney University Cricket Club’s Third and Fourth grade teams made it through to the finals with rain-interrupted first innings wins in their respective semi-finals at the weekend.

Third Grade made it to the final of the Mitchell Cup in a low-scoring affair against Manly-Warringah at No.1 Oval.

After being sent in to bat, the Student posted 221 on the back of solid innings from Jonathon Craig Dobson (46 not out), Nicky Craze (42) and Ben Larkin (34). Luke Edgell (3-31) and Joshua Wigney (2-46) were the best of the visiting bowlers.

Craig Dobson also starred with the ball, collecting 4-39 as Manly-Warringah were rolled for 146 despite the efforts of Joseph Graham (37), Warren Evans (31) and Dylan Marshall (28 not out).

In the other semi-final, Eastern Suburbs 5-110 defeated Sydney 58 on the first innings at Birchgrove Park, setting up a final between the Students and Easts at University No.1 Oval this Saturday and Sunday.

Sydney University Fourths will contest the Reid Cup final after accounting for Northern District at Mark Taylor Oval on the weekend.

Having elected to bat, the Students racked up 7(dec)-216 thanks to the efforts of Ryan Danne (58), Hugh Kermond (53), Matthew Powys (25 not out) and Charles Cull (20), before dismissing Northern District for 185.

Lewis McMahon collected 4-36 and Jake Day 2-18 to help set up the push for a berth in the final against Penrith at Howell Oval this Saturday and Sunday.

Toss: Sydney University. Batted first: Northern District.

In the other semi-final, Penrith 305 defeated St George 169 on the first innings at Bill Ball Oval.
