Ben Trevor-Jones cracked 124 for Sydney University on the opening day of their Round 4 match with Fairfield-Liverpool at University Oval on Saturday.

Having been called up to open while Nick Larkin is on NSW duties in the Sheffield Shield, Trevor-Jones made the most of his promotion by posting his second century for SUCC.

He hit 12 boundaries and a six in his 262-ball stay that lasted 345 minutes, and shared partnerships of 102 with Tim Cummins (55) and 86 with Dugald Holloway (48).

Skipper Liam Robertson declared Sydney University’s inning closed at 9-295, allowing the Students four overs at the visitors, who ended the day at 11 without loss.

In  bright start to the season, Trevor-Jones hit an unbeaten 39 in Second Grade before being called into First Grade where he posted an unbeaten 27 against Eastern Suburbs and 21 against Sydney before Saturday’s century. He now has the handsome average of 105.5 for the season.

The Sydney Premier Women’s grade competition finally saw some action at the weekend after washed out rounds marred the start of the season.

Universities went down by 40 runs in their limited overs fixture against Campbelltown-Camden at Raby Sports Complex on Sunday.

Australian representative Claire Koski set the scene for the hosts, cracking 108 off 114 balls, including 11 boundaries.

She shared an opening stand of 151 with Clara Iemma (54) and a first wicket stand of 68 with Hannah Darlington (39) as Campbelltown-Camden racked up 5-264 from their 50 overs.

Maddy Darke (65) and Maisy Gibson (46) were the best with the bat for Universities, who finished 9-224, while Stephanie Ellsmore kept the visitors in check, finishing with 4-28.
