Basketball – Men: Won both their games on day
one with a tight victory over Maquarie Uni early on (53-41) and then a
more convincing victory over our neighbours Notre Dame (66-32) later in
the day.

              
– Woman: Our girls went down in their first game but not without a fight. They
had a tough time againt Uni of Canberra going down 31 to 41. They
picked it up in the second game though with a convincing victory over UTS
(51-20)

 

Handball: Jonathan O’Bannon led his team to
two imppressive wins today. The first over Syd Uni Cumbo campus 15-11 and the
second over UNSW 15-13.

 

Tennis:
USYD has 5
tennis players competing this year. Three guys and two girls. Mitch Scott had
one forfeit and two 8-0 wins for an impressive day overall. Alex McMillan also
had a successful day with an 8-0 and then an 8-2 victory. Unfortunately
Luca Lavermicocca injured his knee in his first match, a draw, which let to his
subsequent withdrawl from his second game today.

The girls
also had a successful day with Madelaine Smith rising early for her 8am match,
taking it out 8-3. She then continued her good form with an 8-0 win over her
UNSW opponent. Laura Tattersall played three games today with two wins and one
loss. A great day overall for our tennis team.

 

Touch
Mens: The
mens tea started strong with a 5-1 win over Macquarie. They were quickly
brought down to earth by UNSW via an 8-3 loss. They then had a draw with UTS to
tick all the boxes.

           
Mixed: The Mixed team won their first match against cumbo 6-3. They then went down
to Wollongong 4-7. Redemption came in their last game of theday with a 10-4 win
over ACU.

             Woman:
The girls dominated today with strong wins over UNSW, Cumbo and SCU ( 8-2, 7-3,
15-1)

 

Ultimate
Frisbee –
Two
games two wins for our Ultimate team. A strong win over Newcastle (11-8) at
midday and then a more routine victory over cumbo (15-2) later in the
afternoon.

 

Volleyball – Kiel led his boys well today.
They were well beaten in their first match today by a well oiled UNSW (3sets to
0). They then turned things around well and truely with a convincing victory
over UTS 3 sets to 0.

 

So all in
all a good day by USYD. Ill keep you both posted with results from tomorrow but
at this stage we are in the chase for a few medals.
