AFL (Men’s)

The Students started the season with seven straight wins to open their 2018 campaign. However, the wheels began to fall off when they dropped six of their next eight and now sit in the middle of the pack. They are still safely in the top six and a top four position is up for grabs if they can consolidate a few wins in the last four rounds.

Competition: North East Australian Football League (NEAFL)

Current Ladder Position: 5th (9 wins-6 losses)

Elimination Finals: Saturday 1 September & Sunday 2 September (Venue TBC)

Preliminary Finals: Saturday 8 September & Sunday 9 September (Venue TBC)

Grand Final: Saturday 15 September 2018 (Venue TBC)

 

AFL (Women’s)

Despite sitting just outside the top four, the Sydney University Bombers are knocking on the door of finals. If they can string together a few wins in the last three rounds, they might just find themselves in the mix come finals time.

Competition: AFL Sydney Women’s Premier Division

Current Ladder Position: 5th (5 wins- 9 losses)

Semi Final 1: 10am on Saturday 1 September at Blacktown Oval.1

Semi Final 2: 1pm on Sunday 2 September at Blacktown Oval.1

Preliminary Final: 12pm on Saturday 8 September at Blacktown Oval.1

Grand Final: 12:30pm on Saturday 15 September at Blacktown Oval.1

 

Baseball (Men’s)

Qualifying for finals in fourth position, Sydney University will face UNSW this weekend in the semis. Having split their previous encounters, the stage is set for a great contest. Second grade and third grade have also qualified for finals highlighting the strength of the club

Competition: Sydney Winter Baseball League

Current Ladder Position: 4th (7 wins- 5 losses)

Semi Finals: Sydney University vs UNSW at 1pm on Sunday 5 August at Corbin Reserve

Preliminary Finals:  Saturday 11 August & Sunday 12 August

Grand Finals: Saturday 18 August & Sunday 19 August (Venue TBC)

Hockey (Women’s )

Consistency is key for this group with four rounds left heading into finals. In a close league, finishing in the top two is a realistic goal if they can string a few wins together.

Competition: Sydney Women’s Hockey Metropolitan League

Current Ladder Position: 4th (8 wins- 4 losses)

Semi Finals: TBC

Grand Final: TBC

Netball (Women’s)

Promoted to second division following a fantastic 2017 season, Inner Western Suburbs have shown no signs of slowing down sitting in equal first on the competition ladder. Seeming to be in a league of their own alongside Manly, a consecutive Grand Final berth is on the cards if they can continue their strong form showcased all season.

Competition: Netball NSW DOOLEYS Metro League – Division 2

Current Ladder Position: Equal 1st (13 wins- 1 loss)

Semi Finals: 6:45pm on Thursday 6 September at Genea Netball Centre

Preliminary Final: 8:30pm on Thursday 13 September at Genea Netball Centre

Grand Final: 6:45pm on Thursday 20 September at Genea Netball Centre

Rugby League (Men’s)

Sydney University will host this year’s Tertiary Cup Grand Final as they look to secure their first premiership since 2002. After a dominant season, the team will have to get past a tough UTS Tigers outfit if they want to hold up this year’s trophy.

Current Ladder Position: 1st (7 wins- 2 losses)

Grand Final: Sydney University v UTS Tigers at 3pm on Saturday 4th August at Sydney University Football Ground

Rugby (Men’s)

Sydney University Football Club are back to their winning ways this season. With the best for and against average in the league, they sit on top of the Shute Shield ladder with two rounds remaining. Not only are they on top of the ladder in first grade, but also on top in second grade and fourth grade, with third grade sitting second. Heading into the business end of the season Sydney University are in a great position.

Current Ladder Position: 1st (12 wins- 4 losses)

Qualifying Finals:  18 August 2018 (Home game highest placed qualifier)

Semi Finals: 25August 2018 (Venue TBC)

Rugby (Women’s)

Currently undefeated throughout the first 11 rounds, the Sydney University Women’s Rugby team are looking to continue their dominant form and make a strong run home to finals.

Competition: NSW Jack Scott Cup

Current Ladder Position: 1st (11 wins- 0 losses)

Semi Finals: Saturday 1 September & Saturday 8 September (Venue TBC)

Grand Final: 15 September 2018 (Venue TBC)

 

Soccer (Women’s)

Sydney University Soccer Football Club have already clinched the First Grade and Reserve Grade Premierships as well as the NPL Women’s Club Championship with one round of the regular season remaining. Despite this, they will be hungry to assert their already dominant position within the league by pushing for a Grand Final win.

Soccer (Men’s)

After a slow start to the season, the team were given a shake up and have since won or drawn, 11 of their last 12 matches. Proving they can compete with any team on any day, they will have to continue their strong form if they have hopes of qualifying for finals.
