Four members of the Sydney Uni Wheelkings/Sydney Uni Wheelchair Flames 2013 roster have been selected in the Australian men’s and women’s national wheelchair basketball teams ahead of November’s 2013 IWBF Asia/Oceania Championships in Thailand.

Sarah Stewart, Kylie Gauci and Caitlin de Wit have all been selected in the Australian women’s Gliders team, while Michael Auprince will represent the Australian men’s Rollers team for the first time having claimed a bronze medal with the Australian Spinners Under 23 team.

De Wit is a SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder (Bachelor of Veterinary Science), while Stewart is a former scholarship holder and University of Sydney graduate.  

Powerhouses of the Asia/Oceania region, the Rollers and Gliders will be looking to put in strong performances during the tournament to book their place at next year’s 2014 IWBF World Championships.

The 2013 IWBF Asia/Oceania Championships take place in Bangkok, Thailand from 20-30 November.

The 2014 IWBF Women’s Wheelchair Basketball World Championships take place in Toronto, Canada from 19-29 June.

The 2014 IWBF Men’s Wheelchair Basketball World Championships take place in Goyang City, South Korea from 1-12 July.
