Sydney University Football Club (SUFC), Australia’s oldest and most successful rugby club will be dedicating its round 18 Sydney Premiership rugby home game on Saturday 6th August against Southern Districts to honour the NSW Emergency Service personnel.
“SUFC have always had a close association with the NSW Emergency Services, with a number of our volunteer team managers’ members of the NSW Police Force,” said David Mortimer AO, President of Sydney University Football Club. “We hope that the Emergency Service personnel will see this day as a way for the community to thank them for all they do.”
Entertainment and activities will start from 11am, culminating in the inaugural Emergency Services Shield clash between Sydney University and Southern Districts at 3:00pm. A highly anticipated, “top secret” police demonstration will be shown at half time of the 1st Grade match (3:40pm) and promises to be something not to be missed.
Police Association President Scott Weber said the day would be a great opportunity for the community and emergency services workers to be recognised by the Rugby community. “We’re proud to be able to support this year’s Emergency Services Day. The day will give the community the chance to come along and learn a bit more about what our emergency services do, as well as watch a great game of rugby.”
The day’s activities will include:
- Police cars, horses, dog squad, VIP cyclists and band
- Fire and Rescue, Rural Fire, SES and RTA Trucks
- Ambulance NSW vehicles
- Jumping castle
All rugby games and Emergency Services Day activities will be held at No. 1 Oval, Western Avenue, Camperdown. Entry for Emergency Service Personnel (on presentation of identification) is by gold coin.
