After four rounds of the Winter Premiership SUAC lead both the men’s and women’s competitions. In the women’s competition the SUAC ladies lead rivals Athletics Easts by 27 points, in the men’s competition the boys have a 20 point lead over Randwick Botany Harriers.

The last round of the Winter Premiership was the NSW Road Relay Championships held at Ourimbah on the Central Coast. In the men’s race SUAC fielded a strong team who were able to finish 2nd to Randwick Botany. The team included Ben Cross, Matt Dempsey, Vince Donnadiue and Jack Colreavy. Matt Dempsey was the standout performer running 12.04 for the course which was the 6th fastest split of the day.  In pleasing news for the depth of SUAC the B team of Miles Waring, Julian Baker, Alex Pettigrew and Clive Cooper took home the bronze medal.

In the women’s race the SUAC team were locked in a tight tussle with Randwick Botany where they eventually took home the silver medal. The SUAC girls pushed all the way, the team of Melinda Witchard, Joanna Cuibs, Emily Ryan and Rosie Weber all ran personal bests over the distance. The standout was Emily Ryan who had a huge run, splitting the fastest time of the day running a 13.23. Melinda Witchard also ran a very slick 13.36 which was the third fastest time of the day.

The next race of the Winter Premiership will be the NSW Short Course Championships on the 1st of August.
