Sydney University’s 4-1 win over Illawarra Stingrays at Wilson Park on Sunday has assured them of a semi-final berth in the Women’s Premier League Division 1 soccer football competition.
Georgia Keen and Stephanie Ambrose each bagged two goals in the win to put them in fourth place on the ladder, on percentages, from the Stingrays.
Macarthur Rams head the Premier Division ladder on 52 points, with North West Sydney Women’s Koalas (46), FNSW Institute (41), Sydney University (40) and Illawarra Stingrays (40) making up the top six.
The Students could take outright third place this weekend when they take on FNSW Institute at Valentine Sports Park.
In the final two round of the competition proper they will host Manly United at Wilson Park on August 2, and meet Macarthur Rams at Lynwood Park on August 9.
Sydney University women’s teams are also well-placed to make the semi-finals in all other grades, with Reserve Grade holding down fourth place on the ladder, the Under 17s lying second, the Under 15s in fifth position, and the Under 13s running second.
