It has been an outstanding few months for Sydney University Judo Club (SUJC), competing at a series of competitive events on the east coast.

Tournaments included the NSW State Titles, Australian National Judo Championship on the Gold Coast and 2018 Junior Points, KYU Grades & Masters Tournament.

The NSW State Titles were held at Olympic Park in April. This tournament is a selection event for all judoka looking to compete at the 2018 National Titles.

The Club experienced great success, obtaining two gold (by Kurt Lewis and Ririko Noda), two silver (by Gaby Boruta and Willy Xu) and one bronze (by Andrew Roberts).

In early-June, eight members of SUJC travelled to the Gold Coast to compete in the Australian National Judo Championship and achieved some exciting results, claiming one gold (by Andrew Roberts), one silver (by Gunhee Min) and two bronze (by Ririko Noda and Kyunghoon Lee).

Great experience was gained by Gaby Boruta who placed 4th, Yuki Uemura who placed 5th and Alexander Sheychenko who placed 4th in masters and Katia Yu who finished 3rd in Kyu grades and 2nd in masters.

Alexander Sheychenko and Katia Yu also competed in Kata and placed 5th.

More recently, in July, SUJC competed in the 2018 Junior Points, KYU Grades & Masters Tournament at Olympic Park and won an impressive seven gold, four silver and three bronze.

The Club’s younger contingent also achieved some fantastic results in this tournament with one silver and three bronze.

Congratulations to the Club on a terrific few months. Stay across the Club’s activity by following them on Facebook and Instagram.
