The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames have announced the re-signing of Alex Wilson for the 2018/19 WNBL season.

The South Australian-born shooting guard will play her fourth season with the group after another stand-out year.

Wilson averaged over 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game in 2017/18 and brought great energy and athleticism to the court week-in week-out.

Wilson scored a season-high 24 points in the Flames 101-89 win over the Deakin Melbourne Boomers in round eight, and consistently impressed with her ability to shoot three-pointers (scoring six threes against Melbourne that same game).

General Manager of the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames, Karen Dalton said she was glad to see Alex re-sign for the upcoming season.

“Alex is a core member of the Flames group and we’re thrilled to have her back,” she said.

After claiming the 2016/17 WNBL Championship with the Flames in early-2017, Alex returned home to SA to play in the Premier League basketball competition for the Eastern Mavericks where she averaged an impressive 26.84 points and 11 rebounds per game.

She then went on to win a Gold Medal with the Emerging Opals at the 2017 Summer Universaide in Taipei in August, undoubtedly bringing the international experience to her most recent season with the Flames.

“Alex has shown great growth as a player and person, and we look forward to seeing what’s in store for 2017/18.”
