The Sydney University Athletics Club, established in 1878, is one of the oldest athletics clubs in the country. The club is for athletes of all abilities from club level to elite, and from students to masters. The club has a proud history of strong performances at Australian University Games, including a long-held and healthy rivalry with the Universities of Queensland and Melbourne University. Currently we are the dominant Open Club in NSW winning Men's and Women's Winter Premierships and Club Championships on a regular basis.
The Club competes in a wide range of competitions around Australia including national and state championships, Athletics NSW events, City2Surf and Gold Coast Marathon events across both the summer (track & field) and winter (cross country/road/walks) seasons.
SUAC holds many fantastic social events throughout the year. The Club organises annual tours to compete against Universities of Queensland and Melbourne as well as international athletics events.
In 2017 SUAC is launching Target Tokyo, an ambitious 4 year plan to provide our athletes with the best chance of making the Olympics and competing in Championship events against the world's best. A link to Target Tokyo can be found here
Our 2017 Vice Presidents' Dinner will be held on Thursday 25th May at the Grandstand, Oval No.1. An invitation can be found here
Anyone can compete for SUAC and joining is simple - visit the club website to find out how.
A club history was written by Professor David Branagan with assistance from Malcolm Harrison for the clubs centenary. Copies are stored at University of Sydney, NSW State & National Library. Courtesy of University of Sydney Library Digitisation Services a scanned version can be found here
