Leonie Lum
Elite Athlete Program Manager

Leonie has worked at SUSF since 2006 in several roles. Prior to her current position, which she commenced in April 2011, Leonie oversaw the management of SUSF’s commercial and community sport and recreation services in the Programs & Participation department. Leonie is a graduate of The University of Sydney (B. Education (Secondary: Human Movement & Health Education), 2005) and the University of Technology, Sydney (Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, 2011).

If she’s not in the office or at the beach, Leonie can often be found training in one of our facilities. With a sporting background in track and field and martial arts, Leonie is an amateur boxer with Sydney University Boxing Club. Leonie oversees the care of scholarship holders for rugby union and athletics.

Dustyn Butler
Elite Athlete Program Assistant Manager

Dustyn has worked at SUSF since 2016 and has recently moved over to the Elite Athlete Program by way of the Boat Club where he started as their Assistant Coach and later moved into the role of Director of Rowing, where he oversaw the running of the club to two New South Wales club titles (2017, 2018) and the clubs first National Club title in 2018.

Before moving to Australia, Dustyn coached in the UK as well as in his home country of South Africa where he served as a coach on their National Team from 2009 – 2012. In 2012 Dustyn was an assistant coach to the South African lightweight men’s four who won a gold medal at the London Olympics. 

With his coaching career behind him Dustyn now devotes more of his time to running and cycling where he takes part in marathons and has followed big cycle races like the Tour de France. Dustyn currently oversees the care of scholarship holders for football, basketball including the Flames Team and hockey.

Anika Lalic
Elite Athlete Program Coordinator 

Anika has been the Elite Athlete Program Coordinator since 2013. Prior to beginning her full-time role, Anika was a student-athlete for volleyball and held a scholarship in the program from 2006–2012 whilst she studied a B. Applied Science (Hearing & Speech and a B. Education (Sec: HMHE). She has been employed at Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness in various capacities since 2008 and has learnt some invaluable skills and expertise along the way.

Anika is an avid sportsperson having both competed and coached across numerous sports. She’s also a huge sports fan and enjoys catching live sport whenever she can. Anika enjoys working in sport as it is always fun, fast paced and allows her to exercise her passion in the industry on a daily basis. The athletes she works with inspire her to go the extra mile and learn new things each day. The sports Anika is responsible for include Australian Rules Football, Snowsports and Water Sports.

Tom Morrison
Elite Athlete Program Adminstrator 

Tom has been in his current role with the Elite Athlete Program since February 2015. Yet, he has been associated with Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness since the start of 2013 when he relocated from Perth to Sydney and accepted the Senior Development and Premier Division Head Coaching role with the Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC), while competing for the SUANFC in the North Eastern Australian Football League (NEAFL).

In December of 2015, he completed the Master of Management degree at The University of Sydney and has been an Elite Athlete Program scholar since semester 2 2013. At the completion of the 2015 NEAFL season Tom retired from football, and as of 2016, was the SUANFC NEAFL team's Head Coach. He has competed in many sports at various levels and, like most athletes, is a keen sports fan and enjoys learning from all forms of sport and exercise.

Tom assists athletes from a wide variety of sports, which currently includes badminton, baseball, cycling, goalball, gymnastics, handball, modern pentathlon, netball, rugby league, softball, table tennis, tennis, touch football, triathlon, ultimate frisbee and volleyball.

Eleni Valos
Elite Athlete Program Adminstrator 

Eleni graduated from the University of Sydney with a B. Health Science majoring in Health Science Research and Movement Science. She has held a number of roles with SUSF over the years including Customer Service attendant in Operations at SUSAC and Arena and Customer service administrator within Programs and participation, however commenced full time with SUSF in 2017 in High Performance and in 2018 commenced with the Elite Athlete Program.

When Eleni isn’t in the office she is most likely at a basketball stadium either competing or supporting. Eleni likes working in sport as it is fast-paced, challenging and gives you the opportunity to meet some pretty incredible athletes and administrators. Eleni is currently completing a Masters in Sports Management at UTS.

Eleni currently oversees the care of scholarship holders for many sports including cricket, tennis, table tennis, badminton, boxing, fencing, karate, taekwondo, surf lifesaving and wrestling.

Rebecca Hay
Sports Dietitian 

Rebecca is an Accredited Sports Dietitian and Accredited Practising Dietitian. She has worked across many areas in both clinical dietetics and private industry. Her experience ranges from working as a dietitian in the public hospital system, in research, in private industry and most recently in private practice with The Athletes Kitchen. Rebecca is currently a coordinator for the NSW chapter of Sports Dietitians Australia and is involved with the planning and implementing the ongoing educational activities in NSW.

Areas of specialty for Rebecca include: healthy eating and body image, nutrition for performance, recovery, hydration, nutrition strategies for racing and competition, sports supplements and ergogenic aids, vegetarian and vegan eating, diabetes management, cholesterol management, IBS and FODMAP, menu planning and travel nutrition.

Some of her past clients include Cycling NSW, Sydney FC, NSW Swimming, Ryde Eastwood Rugby Union, nutrition provider for NSWIS, Triathlon 220 Magazine and Australian Defence Force.

Paul Penna
Sports Performance Psychologist

Paul is a recognised Sport Psychologist, having worked with many of Australia’s top sports people and teams including the Australian Swim Team, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Team, the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games Team and the 2004, 2005 and 2007 World Swimming Championship Teams. He was the Senior Sport Psychologist at the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) during 2006-07. He commenced working at the institute in 2001 and was principally focused on assisting athletes and programs perform on the highest level possible, whether that was at State, National, Commonwealth Games, World Championships or Olympics and Paralympics. Paul has developed a successful business, Focus Performance Psychology, which assists individuals and teams to obtain peak performances. His clients include professional athletes and sporting teams, motor sport athletes, corporate executives and teams, performers and aspiring champions.

Hannah Johnson
Sports Chaplain

Hannah is an accredited Sports Chaplain and has worked with many different events including the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and 2014 Australian University Games. Hannah is currently the State Director of Sports Chaplaincy Australia (SCA) for NSW & ACT and is involved across many different sports and levels of competition. Hannah has a BA in Sports Management, certificate in Ministry from Bible college and is also a qualified Youth Worker. Hannah has spent some time living overseas and around Australia.

Hannah is passionate about supporting people and helping them to reach their full potential. She is available to support, listen and care for those involved in sport, providing Pastoral Care and being available during major critical incidents as well as the every day aspects of life. SUSF scholarship holders and their families may access pastoral care and support, regardless of faith or creed, when dealing with life issues including grief and critical incidents. As well as a 'go to' for referral to other services such as counselling and personal development, Hannah helps  to facilitate and maintain positive, focused attitudes in student athletes.
