SUSF offers 'Learn to Swim' classes all year round. Lessons are based on the public school term. Please see the application form and timetable.
Jelly Fish
This level is for beginners and non-swimmers and is taught without parents or carers in the water. The main goals of this level are to teach survival skills like blowing bubbles, water awareness, and dog paddle. Singing songs, playing games and lots of fun are an integral part of this program to increase learning.
Max. 4 children per class.
Star Fish
This class introduces basic freestyle and backstroke kick. Parts of the previous level are revised to ensure safety in the water. An emphasis is also placed on submerging, safety jumps, back floats and much more which improves the body position of the swimmer.
Max. 4 children per class.
SeaTurtles
Coordination of the breathing element of freestyle is the primary component of this class. Body rolls and other skills related drills are used to strengthen the swimmer. Backstroke body position and coordination is developed, with floats again used to develop body position in the water.
Max. 5 children per class.
Clown Fish
This class builds on the freestyle and backstroke elements taught in the class below. We introduce butterfly kick and breaststroke kick to develop the swimmer for the next level.
Max. 6 children per class.
Sea Horses
The final class in the Learn to Swim bracket is used to refine freestyle and backstroke technique. Breaststroke arms and kick are combined and butterfly kick it strengthened. From this level the student moves into our Junior Squad program.
Max. 7 children per class.
