We can’t all be professional sportsmen and women, or Olympic Athletes. Fortunately though, this doesn’t mean that we can’t experience the enjoyment, passion and challenge of competitive sport. Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness offers opportunities to play competitively across various sports including rugby union, soccer, netball, badminton, touch football, volleyball and cricket to name a few.
These competitions are open to all levels of experience, so see which competition is right for you, and get involved!
Have an hour to kill between lectures? Need something fun to do in your lunch hour? Why not get a group of friends together and compete in our Lunchtime Social Sport competitions!
Competitions are open to both Sydney Uni students and the general public. Registrations open in week 1 of each uni semester and close 5pm Friday week 2. All competitions commence in week 3 and conclude in week 13.
Each year since 1939, Sydney Uni students and staff have competed against each other for the honour and pride of their faculty in a variety of sports. Competitions include touch footy, soccer, netball, basketball, cricket and tennis to name a few. Points are awarded to the winners and place-getters of each competition whilst participation points are also given to all faculties whose students compete. The faculty with the most points at the end of the year wins and is awarded the Emily Small Shield!
Participation is FREE and provides an opportunity for undergraduates, postgraduate students and staff to have fun and compete for their faculty in a social atmosphere!
Intercollegiate sport is an integral part of Sydney Uni's long and rich sporting history; providing residents of St. Andrew's, St. Paul's, Sancta Sophia, St. John's, Wesley and The Women's Colleges with opportunities to represent their college in various sporting events.
