Sydney University’s Beau Casson and Ian Moran have been rewarded for their good form with selection in the NSW Second XI for their four-day match against a Victorian Second XI starting today.

All-rounder Moran has been one of Sydney University’s most consistent batsman, scoring 480 runs this season at an average of 48. Batting at number three Moran has scored two half centuries and one century.

Moran opens the bowling for Sydney University and his efforts with the ball this season have landed him nine wickets at an average of just over 24. He recently became just the 12th player in the Sydney Grade cricket competition to score 8000 First Grade runs and take 250 wickets.

Left arm spinner Casson has been selected in the NSW Second XI team after a successful comeback from illness.

Casson has only played five matches this season, but he has starred in his last three games for Sydney University- claiming Man of the Match honours against a touring South African side, taking four wickets against North Sydney, and then snaring three wickets in an over (it would have been four if not for a dropped catch) in a Twenty-20 match against Blacktown.

The four-day match will be played at Toorak Park in Melbourne.
