Sydney University Cricket Club will field teams in four of the five grades contesting the Sydney Premier men’s competition qualifying finals this weekend, while Universities have teams in the First and Second grade Premier women’s competition semi-finals.

First, Second, Third and Fourth grades made it through to the men’s finals series, while Fifth Grade finished 13th and SUCC’s Metropolitan Cup team finished 7th at the end of the competition proper.

The two-day qualifying finals will be played this Saturday and Sunday

In First Grade, minor premiers Campbelltown-Camden will take on Sydney at Raby No.1 Oval; Parramatta will meet Gordon at Old Kings Oval, and Sydney University will meet Sutherland at Sydney University Oval.

In the lower grades Sydney University Seconds will meet Hawkesbury at Owen Earle Oval; Third Grade will meet Mosman at Petersham Oval; and Fourth Grade will take on Manly-Warringah at LM Graham Reserve.

The semi-finals will be played on 24-25 March, with the final scheduled for 31 March and 1-2 April.

In the women’s competition, Universities finished second in First Grade and third in Second Grade.

The women’s semi-finals are scheduled for this Sunday, with First Grade minor premiers Bankstown Sports taking on St George-Sutherland at Bankstown Oval, and Universities meeting Gordon at Alan Davidson Oval.

The Second Grade semi-finals have Parramatta up against Northern District at Bruce Perser Reserve, and Universities taking on St George-Sutherland at Harold Fraser Oval.

Sydney Premier Men’s Grade competition – Round 15 (Limited overs)

Second Grade: Sydney University 7-282 off 50 overs (Dugald Holloway 72 not out, Ryan Danne 67, Matthew Powys 54; Matthew Hudson 2-42, Patrick O’Neill 2-43) defeated Campbelltown-Camden 176 off 39.1 overs (Matthew Hudson 45; Jonathon Craig Dobson 3-43; Ryan Danne 2-25, Jack Lawson 2-44) by 106 runs at Sydney University Oval on Saturday. Fourth Grade: Sydney University 1-81 off 21.4 overs (Vince Umbers 32, Brayden Dilley 25 not out) defeated Campbelltown-Camden 80 off 44.4 overs (Shehan Canagasingham 2-9, Tom Fullerton 2-11, Robert Browne 2-17, Jazz Rinka 2-18) by nine wickets, with a bonus point, at Snape Park on Saturday. Fifth Grade: Sydney University 144 off 41.3 overs (Ashwin Kirubanandan 28, Thomas Draca 26, Zphirul Islam 22; Mark Richardson 4-15) defeated Campbelltown-Camden 116 off 40.1 overs (Mark Richardson 35; Murray Miles 3-18, Andrew  Wilkinson 2-9, Ethan Jamieson 2-15) by 28 runs at Raby No.3 Oval on Saturday. Sydney University finished 13th on 36 points at the end of the competition proper. The top six to contest the qualifying finals included: Gordon (80), Penrith (78), UNSW (73), Parramatta (71), Manly-Warringah (63) and Sutherland (62).

Club Championship: Manly-Warringah (1435 points) won the Club Championship for 2017-18, ahead of Parramatta (1350), Northern District (13018) and Sydney University (1278).

Metropolitan Cup – Round 16 (Limited overs)

Sydney Premier Women’s Grade competition – Round 14 (Limited Overs)
