Alex Croak, a Sydney University Elite Athlete Program member, has all but secured her selection on the Australian diving World Championship team after winning the women’s 10m synchronised platform at the 2011 Australian selection trials over the weekend.

Croak combined with Melissa Wu to win gold ahead of Brittany Broben and Annabelle Smith, tallying 318.54 to push for selection on the team competing at the 2011 FINA Aquatic World Championships.

The duo then competed in the individual women’s 10m platform, where they were upstaged by youngster Broben who won gold. Croak finished with silver and Wu with bronze, however the final spots on the Australian team are still to be determined.

Fellow Sydney University Elite Athlete Program member Matthew Mitcham did not compete due to injury. The final team is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday.

The 2011 FINA Aquatic World Championships take place in Shanghai, China from July 16-31.
