It was a perfect weekend for the Sydney University Baseball Club, with the Cynics winning all four games.

The Sydney Winter Baseball League teams were defensively flawless, not allowing their opponents to gain a single run. This marks 40 consecutive innings (five plus games) across the three grades without conceding a run.

First Grade racked up their second consecutive win for the season, with a solid 6-0 victory over perennial contenders, Marrickville.Tyler Lapp crushed a line drive home run well over the left field fence, while Ben Warnock, Jackson Mannix and Josh Goldsmith all contributed multiple hits. Adam Brown and Alex Cobb were once again stellar on the mound and backed by superb defence all round.

Second Grade were led by a vintage performance on the mound by Club President, Wade Shipard to take a 6-0 victory over Marrickville.

Third Grade continued their hot form, dominating display over Marrickville, defeating them, 9-0. Jon Nicoll again starred on the mound and was backed by some electric defence from Club stalwart Scott Moran. A 15 hit offensive burst was spurred by Moran (two doubles), Rodger Morris (three hits) and a two run home run from Andre Franklin.

Fourth Grade had a convincing 16-1 victory over Sydney Twins on the back of a solid outing on the mound from  Matthew Sultana plus two home runs from Trent Smyers and three hits apiece from Sultana and Will Allen.

The Cynics have a well-earned rest with a bye next week, followed by the June long weekend. They will look to continue their strong form when they return to the field on Sunday 17th June against the University of NSW at the Phil Austin Field .
