After going into overtime the Flames have fallen short against SEQ Basketball, going down 97-89 in a tough contest on Friday, 30 October.

Coming off a complete team performance win against Melbourne, the Flames proved a true test for the home side Stars at Logan Metro.

In another big scoring game, the starting five Flames opened strong. Alex Wilson led the scoring (11pts), just ahead of Carolyn Swords who again commanded the court (10pts).

Holding the lead at halftime (46-43), the intensity heightened with the clock as both teams continued toe to toe, eventually reaching 84 apiece.

Despite a gallant final effort, SEQ proved too strong in overtime with 8 unanswered points.

While the Flames were unable to snatch their fourth win of the season, every player in the strong squad gave it their all in the hard fought away game.

In the huge physical contest Swords led in three categories (points, rebounds, steals), while Captain Katie Ebzery dominated in assists (8) and Casey Samuels in the blocks department (2).

The girls return home this Friday night for their second meeting against the University of Canberra Capitals at 7:00pm.
