This Friday, the ACUVUE Sydney Uni Flames will head down to our nation’s capital looking for their first win of the 2008/09 WNBL season, as they prepare for a big double-header weekend, playing Canberra on Friday and the AIS on Saturday.

With the Capitals currently sitting atop the league ladder, having won two games in the first round and tipped to be title contenders this year, the Flames will be keen to prove that they have what it takes to go all the way this year.

The extra week with new American recruits Lindsay Pluimer and Rhonda Price would have given Coach Dalton the chance to prepare them to face the “Big Three” of the Capitals – Abby Bishop, Mariana Tolo and Tracey Beatty.

On top of that, the Capitals boast ex-Flames player, Michelle Musselwhite and exciting guard Jess Bibby, both of whom will be trying to test the Flames defence. But the Flames are sure to be hungry for their first win, particularly after going down to Adelaide by only two points in their first match of the season.

Flames fans can catch all Friday’s excitement from their lounge rooms, with the match broadcast live on ABC-2, as it is the ABC Game of the Week.

Only one day later, the ACUVUE Sydney Uni Flames will need to back up against the new AIS team, who will be playing their first match of the season.

The AIS, while young, are also big and the Flames will be keen to match their enthusiasm. The Flames should win this one comfortably and establish themselves in the Top Four with a win on Saturday night.
