The MGCCA Badge competition got under way on Saturday with our largest- ever complement of teams donning the blue and gold. Of the fifteen matches played the stand-out performance was the win by SU3 men in Grade 1/2 on centre court at Manning.

Young guns Luca Lavermicocca and Nick Fuentes won all four sets against Auburn 1 to guide uni to a sweet 5-40 to 3-37 victory. In other impressive first round performances, SU2 women took the match points against a tenacious White City 3 team at the Sports & Aquatic Centre in Grade 2/2, with captain Emma Alcock and teammates Sarah Slattery, Ellie Cook and Sarah McCann nudging out their opponents on games after the sets were tied up at 4 apiece, while Luke & Elliot Tebbutt-Russell teamed up with new recruits Lionel Won and Chris Musgjerd for SU11 men in their Grade 2/6 match-up against Manly 5, triumphing 4-39 to 4-37. An away 5-44 to 3-32 win to SU13 in Grade 3/2 at White City along with local derby victories to SU5 over SU4 in Grade 1/4 and SU7 over SU6 in Grade 1/5 at Manning rounded out a highly-successful season opener for the club.
