Sydney University women’s rugby union flanker Emily Chancellor is poised to make her Australian debut when the Wallaroos take on the New Zealand Black Ferns at ANZ Stadium, Sydney, on Saturday.

Chancellor and Sydney University team-mate,  number eight Grace Hamilton, have been named in the run-on side in the curtain-raiser to the Bledisloe Cup match between the Wallabies and the All Blacks. Hamilton already has nine caps.

Chancellor is one of nine players in the 23-strong squad to potentially make their Test debuts on the night.

Liz Patu will lead Australia out as captain for the first time alongside vice-captain, Rebecca Clough with both players to earn their 21st Test caps.

Wallaroos Head Coach Dwayne Nestor said the team has had any excellent build-up for the first Test match of 2018.

“They’re chomping at the bit to get out there and play some rugby,” he said.

“I’ve been really impressed with how this team has taken on the detail of the way we want to play and physically worked hard over the past few months; it’s all come together in camp quite well. This match is going to be incredibly tough, but it’s a challenge we are really looking forward to.”

The match will be broadcast live on Fox Sports with 5.15pm kick-off.
