SUFC pair for Under 20 World Cup

Sydney University Football Club has two representatives in the Australian Under 20 rugby union squad to contest the 2017 World Championship, to be held in Georgia.

Prop Harry Johnson-Holmes, a product of Merewether High School in Newcastle, and second-rower Lachlan Swinton, a product of Knox Grammar School have been named in the 28-man squad.

They’ll attend a final training camp in Canberra this week before heading off to Georgia.

Along with the host nation Georgia, teams from Ireland, New Zealand, Wales, Australia, England, Italy, Scotland, Argentina, France, Samoa and South Africa will contest the Championship.

Australia has been drawn in Pool A with England, Wales and Samoa.

New Zealand put down a marker as one of the teams to beat at the World Junior Championships when they disposed of Australia 43-6 at Bond University in the final of the recent Oceania Under 20 tournament.

The World Championships will be held in Tbilisi and Kutaisi from May 31 to June 18.
