Sydney University Football Club could have two new Wallabies on Wednesday morning if flanker Pat McCutcheon and halfback Nick Phipps get a start for Australia in their game against Leicester on Tuesday night.

The pair have been named on the Australian bench for the mid-week fixture, prior to the Test against England next Saturday.

McCutcheon and Phipps won berths on the Spring tour of Hong Kong, the British Isles, Italy and France after solid performances with the Australian Sevens through the 2010 World Series season, culminating in a silver medal performance at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi last month.

McCutcheon, who captained the Australian Sevens, also turned in strong performances when selected for the Australian Barbarians earlier in the season. He has been Club Captain at SUFC for the past two years.

Meanwhile, SUFC’s Ben McCalman turned in another solid performance at number eight in the Wallabies 25-16 win over Wales at Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

McCalman played in the starting XV against Wales, while Sydney University team-mates Luke Burgess, Berrick Barnes and Dean Mumm won caps off the bench.

Barnes will captain the Wallabies for the first time in the match against Leicester.
