Sydney University Soccer Football Club’s Under 20 side earnt a grand final berth in the NPL 3 NSW men’s competition with an emphatic 4-1 win over Gladesville Ryde Magic on Saturday.
Reuben McDonald, Fergus McDonald, Benjamin Nardi and Joshua Johnson goaled for the Students at Valentine Sports Park to set up a season ender with St George City who defeated Hawkesbury City 3-nil in the other semi-final.
Sydney University finished third on the ladder at the end of the competition proper and then accounted for SD Raiders 2-nil in their elimination final to move into Saturday’s semi-final.
The news wasn’t so good for Sydney University’s Under 18s who fought out a 1-all draw with Hawkesbury City at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday.
Dean Sozeridis goaled for the Varsity, while Callum Elliott found the net for Hawkesbury, who advanced to a grand final meeting with St George City.
Sydney University’s Under 16 side finished a wonderful season in the NPL 2 Youth competition with a 2-nil win over St George City in the grand final at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday.
Oscar Derkatch and Lachlan Eyles goaled for the winners who had also collected the minor premiership with 21 wins, two draws and two losses in the competition proper.
Sydney University also made the grand final in the Under 13s but lost 3-nil to Camden Tigers at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday.
