Sydney University’s champion NPL women’s First Grade soccer side will press for the 2018 title when they take on Macarthur Rams in the grand final at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday.

Having finished the 22-round season proper with 15 wins, five draws and two losses to claim the minor premiership, Sydney University then accounted for the Rams 2-1 in their major semi-final and earnt a grand final berth with a 1-nil win over Football Institute of NSW 0 in their preliminary final at Arlington Oval on Sunday.

Sydney University Reserve Grade missed out on a grand final berth after going down 2-nil to Blacktown Spartans in an upset result in their preliminary final at Arlington Oval on Sunday. The Students had finished the season proper with the minor premiership.

The news was better in the Under 17s, where Sydney University’s 2-1 win over Football Institute of NSW in their preliminary final earnt them a grand final tilt with Manly United at Valentine Sports Park this Sunday.

Meanwhile, in the NPL 3 NSW Men’s First Grade competition, Sydney University will be relying on another result if they are to make the elimination finals.

St George City lead the First Grade ladder on 56 points, with Hawkesbury City (51), Gladesville Ryde Magic (49), SD Raiders (46), Bankstown City (46) and Dunbar Rovers (43) making up the top six. Seventh-placed Sydney University (41) need to beat fourth-placed SD Raiders and hope ninth-placed Dulwich Hill account for sixth-placed Dunbar Rovers.

St George head the men’s Under 20 ladder on 59 points, with Gladesville Ryde Magic (51), Sydney University (51), Hawkesbury City (46), Dunbar Rovers (42) and SD Raiders (42) making up the top six.

Sydney University head the Under 16 ladder in the NPL 2 NSW Youth competition with the minor premiership in the bag.
