Sydney University posted a crucial 5-nil result in their Round 19 First Grade fixture against Dunbar Rovers atSydney  University Football Ground on Saturday.

Scott Tonkin andPanayoti Gotsis posted doubles and Michael Loupis scored the other in a crucial win that lifted Sydney University to seventh on the ladder and within striking distance of the top six.

With seven competition rounds to be played St George City sit on top of the ladder on 42 points, with Bankstown City (30), Hawkesbury City (37), Gladesville Ryde Magic (36), SD Raiders (34) and Camden Tigers (34) making up the top six.

The Students and Dunbar Rovers are on 28 points, with Sydney University holding 7th berth on percentages.

The Students need to beat third-placed Hawkesbury City at David Bertenshaw Oval on Saturday to keep their finals prospects alive.

Under 18: Dunbar Rovers 1 (Connor Slater) defeated Sydney University 0 at Sydney University Football Ground on Saturday.

NPL 2 Men’s competition – Round 19

Under 16: Sydney University 5 (Max Chen 3, Nabil Harrar, Danny Knight) defeated Gladesville Ryde Magic 1 (Edward Lee) at Christie Park on Saturday.

Under 15: Gladesville Ryde Magic 3 (Sebastian Bellew 2, Timothy Dennis) defeated Sydney University 0 at Christie Park on Saturday.

Under 14: Sydney University 3 (Dylan Merrett 2, Marco Febbo) defeated Gladesville Ryde Magic 1 (Cameron Duffy) at Christie Park on Saturday.

Under 13: Gladesville Ryde Magic 1 (Joshua Foley) defeated Sydney University 0 at Christie Park on Saturday.

 

NPL Women’s competition – Round 19

First Grade: Sydney University v Football Institute of NSW at Sydney University Football Ground at 8pm tomorrow (Tuesday).

Reserve Grade: Sydney University 3 (Jessica Cirignano 2) drew with Football Institute of NSW 3 (Aideen Keane, Isabella Volkanovski, Vesna Milivojevic) at Sydney University Football Ground on Sunday.
