Title one win away

A win over seventh-placed NWS Koalas at Christie Park, Ryde, on Sunday could cement the 2019 NPL Women’s Soccer minor premiership for Sydney University.

Sydney University head the NPL ladder on 47 points with 14 wins, five draws and one loss in their 20 rounds, while Sydney Olympic (42), Northern Tigers (40), Illawarra Stingrays (37), Blacktown Spartans (35) and Macarthur Rams (20) making up the top six.

Should the competition leaders lose on Sunday, they’ll need to defeat Illawarra Stingrays at Sydney University Football Ground on 4 August to claim the minor premiership.

The Students stayed at the helm with a 4-nil result over Manly United at Cromer Park last Sunday.

Cortnee Vine, Julie-Ann Russell, Holly Caspers and Teigan Collister posted goals for the Students.

Sydney University also prevailed in Reserve Grade and the Under 17 and Under 14 divisions, while Manly United won the Under 15 fixture.
