Five Sydney Uni archers competed in the State Indoor Archery Championships, held in Menai on July 22-23.

Archers shoot at a total of 120 arrows at a 40cm target 18m away for a total possible score of 1200. All states held their own state championships on the same weekend, and the results for each tournament also counted towards a national competition.

With the open recurve and compound divisions being the most competitive, Eduardo Delos Reyes (open male recurve) did exceptionally well. He finished 3rd in NSW, taking out the bronze medal with a score of 1082. He trailed 2nd place by a mere point. A strong effort nonetheless, his score saw him finish 16th in Australia.

Our other open male recurve archers Eric Hu and Alex Trussell put in solid performances. Hu finished 9th in NSW with a score of 970. Trussell came in 11th scoring 956 points.

Kathryn Kiefhaber (open female barebow recurve) took a 19 point lead into the final 30 arrows, but was overtaken by former SUAC member Meredith Greenham. Kiefhaber finished 2nd with 781 points.

Jordan Vouroudis (open male barebow recurve) shot 509 and came 7th in his division.

The team look forward to getting back to training and will contest a number of club level tournaments in the Sydney area in the coming months.
