Sydney University’s first innings win over UNSW at David Phillips South Field on Saturday moved them within four points of competition leaders Eastern Suburbs.

In a low-scoring affair Sydney University routed the hosts for 133 after sending them into bat, and then replied with 151 for the loss of one wicket. UNSW tallied 6-192 in their second use of the crease

Suthangan Thanabalasingam, batting at No.7 for the hosts, topscored the first innings with 44 not out contributed 42 in the second, assisting Brandon McLean (79 not out) to thwart Sydney University’s push for outright points and a share of the competition lead.
