Sydney University Athletics Club have been crowned 2019 NSW Club Champions over the weekend, claiming their seventh consecutive men’s and women’s championships.

Bushfire smoke threatened the running of the event, however wind cleared the haze and allowed for the event to go ahead as planned.

It was a great weekend of results for the club with four new club records, nine gold medals, four silver and three bronze.

In the women’s there were many standout performances including Anna Laman winning the 800m by four seconds in her fastest time for four years. Alexandra Peterson won the long jump with a leap of 5.73m and the star-studded medley relay won comfortably in a time of 2:11.46.

In the men’s, standout performances were seen by Michael Pratamo who won the discuss with a throw of 44.83m and came second in the shot put (12.85m). Nick Ven Gelder came first in the long jump and Martin Cooper won the 3000m.
