Sydney University enjoyed a 17th-place finish at the UniSport Indigenous Nationals last week – a multi-sport competition for Indigenous students across the country.

The event, which was contested between 28 universities, tested athletes in touch football, basketball, netball and volleyball.

A hard-fought 18-16 triumph over Western Sydney in volleyball gave Sydney University confidence and they took that into close wins over University of Queensland and James Cook in basketball.

Sydney University ended in 18th in netball, 11th in touch football, 19th in volleyball and 12th in basketball to make up the overall 17th-place finish.

The team bonded closely over the week and are eager to compete next year in Newcastle for the 25th anniversary of the event.

Special mentions must go to Maykooth, Thomas, Mahlia, Grace, Mia, Ella, Liam, Jacob, Grace, Lucas, Mitchell, Rebekah and Nathaniel for their contributions over the week!
