Sydney University this week claimed bronze at the Australian University Championship (AUC) Twenty20 cricket tournament held in Ballarat.

Sydney University defeated Monash University by 25 runs in the third v fourth playoff, while Melbourne University defeated the University of New South Wales in the gold medal match.

Day one saw Sydney University make a slow start, going down to the Queensland University of Technology and Melbourne University.

The boys stormed back into the tournament with wins over the University of NSW, Monash University and the University of Ballarat to narrowly miss out on the gold medal match due to averages.

Championship highlights for Sydney University included a Rob Edwards’ reverse pull-shot for six, Will Hay on a hat-trick, Sydney University affecting five run-outs against the University of Ballarat, and Dave Miller and Will Hay tied for the most number of sixes struck.
