It was a great weekend to be a Sydney Uni Baseball Club member, as the Cynics swept the Greenway Giants in all three grades of the Sydney Winter Baseball League.

After a tough start to the season, and falling agonisingly short in the past couple of weeks, First Grade picked up their first victory of the season. They defeated Greenway 1-0 off the back of a solo home run.

Ron Rushbrooke Scholarship holder, Alex Cobb, had a stellar eight inning performance on the hill, finishing with a complete game shutout.

Second Grade also overcame a rocky start to the season, putting on fantastic performance to claim a hard fought 3-0 victory over the Giants. Jon Nicoll starred on the hill, throwing an eight inning shutout, while Jackson Mannix contributed 2 hits.

Third Grade have continued their fantastic start to the season, with a 5-1 victory over Greenway.

Solid pitching from Ben Cobb and Calvin Wagner and multiple hits from Jason Podina led the way. The defensive play of the day went to Timothy Nelson (pictured above) with a fantastic catch in the centre field. They now sit in second place on the ladder after round six.

All three teams will take to the field on Sunday 27th May at Petersham Oval against Marrickville.
