Sydney University’s 3×3 Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams last night qualified for the Australian University 3×3 Basketball Championships after winning a silver medal at the Eastern University Games in Newcastle. 

Women’s defeated the University of Newcastle (UON), 13-5, before falling to the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), 14-13. Men’s beat UTS, 13-12, however went down to a strong Macquarie University side, 21-12. 

Both teams will compete at the Championships in August (held on the Gold Coast) for a spot in the FISU World University 3×3 League, competing against winners from the Northern University Games, Southern University Games and Western University Games. 

Women’s Basketball won its quarter final against the University of Wollongong (UOW), 50-40, and will today take on UTS in the semi. Men’s finished 2nd in their pool after defeating Avondale, 52-30, before going down 59-48 to the University of New South Wales (UNSW). They will also play their semi today against UOW.

In Futsal, Women’s won its quarter final against the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE), 9-1, and will verse the Australian Catholic College today in the semi. Men’s lost its quarter final to UTS, 3-2 and will playoff for 5th/6th place against Western Sydney 2 (WS). 

Sydney Uni’s Mixed Netball team finished 1st in their pool, defeating ACU 2, 58-5, WS, 59-18, and Charles Sturt University 2 (CSU), 50-5. They will face off against UNSW today in the semi final. Women’s lost its quater final against UON, 58-14, and will playoff for 5th/6th against UON 2. 

In Tennis, Andrew Lleonart and Natalie Leung won their playoff rounds, and will today play for 17th/18th and 9th/10th place, respectively. 

Ultimate Frisbee’s Mixed team won three from three yesterday, defeating UON, 15-4, WS, 15-0 and Australian National University (ANU), 13-10. Today they will take on Macquarie University in the semi. 

Mixed Touch Football defeated the University of Canberra (UC), 12-3, but fell to UON, 5-2 and ACU, 7-4. They will today play for 5th/6th.
