Sydney University’s Ultimate Frisbee, Futsal and Men’s Basketball teams remain undefeated after two full days of competition at the Eastern University Games in Newcastle. 

Ultimate defeated the University of Wollongong 2 (UOW), 15-0, Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE), 15-1 and the University of Canberra (UC), 15-1 and will today face their biggest competitor in the regular stages, Australian Catholic University (ACU) in the pool rounds. 

Men’s Basketball have so far won five from five, defeating the University of Newcastle (UON), 51-47, Charles Sturt University (CSU), 67-21, UC, 76-43, UOW 2 (60-39) and Western Sydney University 2 (WS), 63-38. They will this afternoon face off against the University of New South Wales (UNSW) who are tying with them for 1st in their pool. The team are guaranteed to place 1st or 2nd in their pool, and will play a semi final on Thursday. 

Both Men’s and Women’s Futsal teams will play pool games today after winning a combined five games and drawing two. Men’s defeated UNSW, 4-2, ACPE, 4-1 and Avondale, 9-2. They drew against International College of Management Sydney (ICMS), 4-4. Women’s defeated UNSW, 11-0, ACU, 4-2, and drew against UON, 3-3. Both teams look to be in great positions for the quarter finals. 

Women’s Basketball have placed third in their pool and will play a quarter final this morning against UOW. They have won two from four, defeating Macquarie University, 56-28, and ACU, 49-46, and falling to the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), 53-32, and UON, 51-22.

In Mixed Netball, Sydney Uni have won four from four, defeating UON (52-26), UOW (65-38), UC (52-28) and Australian National University (40-7). In Women’s Netball, Sydney Uni have so far won two from five, defeating Western Sydney this morning, 27-21. 

Tennis representatives have just missed out on the finals, with both Andrew Lleonart and Natalie Leung placing 3rd in the pool (competitors need to place 2nd for a spot in the finals). After winning two and losing two, Andrew and Natalie will contest in playoff matches. 

In Mixed Touch Football, Sydney Uni have placed 6th in their pool after defeating ACPE (6-4) and the University of Sydney Cumberland Campus (7-2) but losing to CSU, UOW and WS. The team will now play playoff matches. 

Today Men’s 3×3 Basketball will take on UTS, WS, UNSW, UON and Macquarie University while Women’s will face WS, UNSW, UTS and UON.
