Sydney Uni Hockey Club’s women’s team have established themselves as a dominant force in the Sydney Women’s Hockey League, handing ladder leaders Ryde Hunters Hill their first defeat in a 5-0 demolition over the weekend.

The win extends their unbeaten run to nine games, including eight wins and one draw, where they have conceded just four goals and kept a clean sheet in the past five games.

The result typifies a remarkable turnaround of their season, losing their first two games by a 4-1 margin – one of which was to Ryde Hunters Hill.

Their sights are set on the top of the table, sitting just one point behind first place while making significant ground with 11 unanswered goals in their previous two performances.

Competition favourites is a tag that comes with pressure which no team wants to carry, but the weekend’s result has put everyone on notice.
