Sydney University Swimmers Nicole Libardo and James Etter both reached finals at the recent NSW State Age Championships.

Nicole finished 5th 100m Backstroke 1.09.16 narrowly outside the Olympic Trials Qualifying time and 7th in the 200m Backstroke (15 years) in a creditable 2.28.62.

James finished 8th 200m Breaststroke (17-18 years) in 2.40.52. James recently qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 50m Breaststroke swimming 32.09 at the Victorian Championships earlier in January.

Both swimmers achieving personal best times, coach (Vanessa Smith) says “It was great to see all their hard training result in such wonderful performances. The squad now turns their focus to the State Open Championships in February and then the Olympic Trials in March.”

In an amazing race the Sydney Uni 10 x 50m Men’s Open Relay was narrowly touched out by the Aquadot team to finish 2nd. The Women’s Relay finished a creditable 5th place.

Sydney University was also represented by individual swimmers Chris Antony, Colleen Antony, Taylor Aitken and Jeffrey Jiang who all performed well.
