Two members of the Sydney University Kendo Club, Bonnie Lai and Julie Feng have recently been selected to represent Australia as part of the Australian Women’s Team at the World Kendo Championships (WKC) to be held in Japan, mid this year.
Held once every three years, the WKC is arguably the most significant international kendo competition as the world’s greatest competitors gather in an event equivalent to the martial art’s World Cup. Their hard work has been two to three years in the making.
During this time Julie and Bonnie have extensively committed a lot of their time, resources and effort to their training by attending multiple squad trainings throughout Australia (from Perth to Sydney). Furthermore, during selections Julie and Bonnie competed and succeeded against many other high level players.
We congratulate two fine athletes and wish them luck in their endeavours in Japan later this year!
