Without star players Koen Jansens and CJ Grogan, the Sydney Uni WheelKings have gone down 103 -55 to the Wollongong Rollerhawks.

The first quarter saw the WheelKings competing with the star studded Rollerhawks.  Moving the ball well to get good open shots the WheelKings went into quarter time holding a 24-17 advantage.

The second quarter saw the Rollerhawks go on a scoring spree, scoring 32 points to the WheelKings 14. The WheelKings were unable to match the scoring power of Tristan Knowles and Shaun Russell. The WheelKings never recovered, scoring only 24 points in the second half.

For the WheelKings Craig Cannane top scored with 20 points and 8 rebounds, Kylie Gauci scored 10 and had 12 assists, while and junior Josh Meoli had 7 points. Tim Markcrow and Stephanie saw their first NWBL court time with both scoring.

Shaun Russell of the Rollerhawks led all scorers with career high 45 points, at an impressive 70% from the field. He also led the rebound count 21 rebounds.  Paralympic gold medallist Tristan Knowles had 26 points, 17 rebounds and 11 assists.

The Sydney Uni WheelKings next home games take place on the 30th and 31st July against last year’s league champions the Perth Wheelcats.
