Current and former Sydney University Elite Athlete Program (EAP) members were in fine form at the NSW Elite Women’s Cycling Championships on Sunday 8th April in Berrima.

Georgia Whitehouse, a current EAP member, continued her dominance this season taking out first place.

Second place went to former EAP athlete Ella Bloor, with another former EAP member, Gina Ricardo, not far behind in fifth. All three are also members of the Sydney Uni Velo Club.

In addition to becoming the NSW Elite Women’s Criterium Champion in March, the win determined Georgia Whitehouse as the Elite Women’s Cycling Champion for 2018. Studying for a Graduate Diploma in Psychology at the University of Sydney in 2018, Georgia somehow finds time to be the best women’s’ road rider in NSW.

Fellow rider Gina Ricardo described the race saying, “we had a selection of riders go off the front, but it all came back together. We’re just too strong for each other!”

“It came to a bunch hill climb/sprint in the finale. Georgie powered past and comfortably took 1st…tough little kicker!”

There were other great results from the Sydney Uni – Staminade Women’s Cycling Team.

In addition to Georgie and Gina’s performances, the results were as follows Abby Sneddon (9th), Emma Roberts (11th), Jade Colligan (13th), and Amy Vesty (15th).

Next on the agenda for the team is the Odd Spoke Cup on 14 April at Sydney Motorsport Park in Eastern Creek, the Bathurst series the following weekend, and then the Canberra Women’s Tour on 28/29 April.
