Leonie Lum
Elite Athlete Program Manager

Leonie has worked at SUSF since 2006 in several roles. Prior to her current position, which she commenced in April 2011, Leonie oversaw the management of SUSF’s commercial and community sport and recreation services in the Programs & Participation department. Leonie is a graduate of The University of Sydney (B. Education (Secondary: Human Movement & Health Education), 2005) and the University of Technology, Sydney (Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, 2011).

With a sporting background in track and field athletics, martial arts and amateur boxing; if she's not in the office or at the beach, Leonie can often be found training in one of our facilities.

Leonie oversees the care of scholarship rugby union and rugby sevens players

Eleni Valos
Elite Athlete Program Coordinator

Eleni graduated from the University of Sydney with a B. Health Science majoring in Health Science Research and Movement Science. She has held a number of roles with SUSF over the years including Customer Service attendant in Operations at SUSAC and Arena and Customer service administrator within Programs and participation, however commenced full time with SUSF in 2017 in High Performance and in 2018 commenced with the Elite Athlete Program.

When Eleni isn’t in the office she is most likely at a basketball stadium either competing or supporting. Eleni likes working in sport as it is fast-paced, challenging and gives you the opportunity to meet some pretty incredible athletes and administrators. Eleni is currently completing a Masters in Sports Management at UTS.

Eleni currently oversees the care of scholarship holders for athletics, hockey, rowing and basketball, including the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames WNBL team.

Daniela Paszkiewicz
Elite Athlete Program Coordinator

Daniela joins us in the Elite Athlete Program team having relocated from Melbourne in 2019. She comes from a strong sporting background having completed a Bachelors of Sports Science and Masters in High Performance Science both at Bond University. Daniela has held many coaching and administrative roles in a variety of sports including swimming, gymnastics (Artistic & Rhythmic) and squash. Daniela brings her knowledge and experience of having been an elite Rhythmic Gymnast competing at an international level while completing her studies to the Sydney Uni Elite Athlete Program.

Outside of the office, you with generally find Daniela participating in, and being a spectator at as many sports as she can. As someone who is extremely passionate about health, fitness and the sporting world as a whole, she is always trying to absorb as much knowledge as she can from a variety of sports and a variety of sports people.

Daniela currently oversees the care of scholarship holders for Aussie Rules, cricket and soccer (including futsul).

Deborah Fox
Elite Athlete Program Coordinator

Coming across from the Sydney Uni Boat Club, Deborah joins the team in the Elite Athlete Program after having been with SUSF for 8 years already.

After a decade of rowing at UWA, UNSW, Mosman and UTS, Deborah moved directly to coaching in 1993 at the NSW Academy of Sport in Narrabeen fronting up the Talent Identification Program. In 1996, the NSWIS was formed and she was the Development and then Senior Women’s Coach until 2004. During the period 1995-2004, Deborah was a National Team coach on the Junior/U23/Senior teams producing 10 medals in a variety of categories. From 2005-2008, she was appointed to the role of Assistant Head Coach for Ireland and in 2009-2010 was the Lead Coach for the Belgium U23 Team. Returning to Australia at the end of 2010, Deborah took coaching roles with various clubs and schools until coming to SUSF in September 2011.

Deborah currently oversees the care of scholarship holders for combat sports, racquet sports, snow sports, water sports and other sports.

Fitness testing, assessments, personalised training programs and other physical preparation support is available to sporting scholarship holders from our in-house professional strength and conditioning trainers.

Rebecca Hay
Sports Dietitian 

Rebecca is an Accredited Sports Dietitian and Accredited Practising Dietitian. She has worked across many areas in both clinical dietetics and private industry. Her experience ranges from working as a dietitian in the public hospital system, in research, in private industry and most recently in private practice with The Athletes Kitchen. Rebecca is currently a coordinator for the NSW chapter of Sports Dietitians Australia and is involved with the planning and implementing the ongoing educational activities in NSW.

Areas of specialty for Rebecca include: healthy eating and body image, nutrition for performance, recovery, hydration, nutrition strategies for racing and competition, sports supplements and ergogenic aids, vegetarian and vegan eating, diabetes management, cholesterol management, IBS and FODMAP, menu planning and travel nutrition.

Some of her past clients include Cycling NSW, Sydney FC, NSW Swimming, Ryde Eastwood Rugby Union, nutrition provider for NSWIS, Triathlon 220 Magazine and Australian Defence Force.

Paul Penna
Sports Performance Psychologist

Paul is a recognised Sport Psychologist, having worked with many of Australia’s top sports people and teams including the Australian Swim Team, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Team, the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games Team and the 2004, 2005 and 2007 World Swimming Championship Teams. He was the Senior Sport Psychologist at the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) during 2006-07. He commenced working at the institute in 2001 and was principally focused on assisting athletes and programs perform on the highest level possible, whether that was at State, National, Commonwealth Games, World Championships or Olympics and Paralympics. Paul has developed a successful business, Focus Performance Psychology, which assists individuals and teams to obtain peak performances. His clients include professional athletes and sporting teams, motor sport athletes, corporate executives and teams, performers and aspiring champions.

Hannah Johnson
Sports Chaplain

Hannah is an accredited Sports Chaplain and has worked with many different events including the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and 2014 Australian University Games. Hannah is currently the State Director of Sports Chaplaincy Australia (SCA) for NSW & ACT and is involved across many different sports and levels of competition. Hannah has a BA in Sports Management, certificate in Ministry from Bible college and is also a qualified Youth Worker. Hannah has spent some time living overseas and around Australia.

Hannah is passionate about supporting people and helping them to reach their full potential. She is available to support, listen and care for those involved in sport, providing Pastoral Care and being available during major critical incidents as well as the every day aspects of life. SUSF scholarship holders and their families may access pastoral care and support, regardless of faith or creed, when dealing with life issues including grief and critical incidents. As well as a 'go to' for referral to other services such as counselling and personal development, Hannah helps  to facilitate and maintain positive, focused attitudes in student athletes.
